Health ministry officials told the BBC that tests on the young man proved negative.

The World Health Organisation says nearly two thousand three hundred people have died from ebola, with nearly half of them in Liberia.

Speaking at the United Nations on Tuesday, the Liberian defence minister Brownie J. Samukai said his country was facing a threat to its national existence, as the disease was spreading like wildfire, devouring everything in its path.
