Barley a week after unknown armed robbers overpowered Mzuzu Standard Bank security system and went away with money amounting to K0.5 billion which was later intercepted by Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) officer at Jenda Roadblock, reports reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that three thieves on Monday invaded Mudi House-official house for the country Vice President.

FOM’s effort to talk to Police to confirm the incident proved futile as no one was ready to comment on the matter.

But information gathered by FOM indicates that the thieves gained access to the Vice-President’s official residence by climbing the brick fence in the back yard at around 2am.

They were spotted by security guards of the Vice-President’s neighbour who managed to apprehend one of them. They handed over the suspect to police officers on duty while the other two escaped and are still at large.

The suspect has been identified as Charles Kazuma aged 35.

Press officer to the Vice President Saulosi Chilima, Pilirani Phiri confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Phiri, Zuma appeared before Blantyre Magistrate’s Court Monday afternoon where he was found guilty of breaking into a building and committing a felony and was convicted and sentenced to six years imprisonment with hard labour.

Zuma hails from Ekaiweni Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Mtwalo in Mzimba District.
