Blantyre Water Board wishes to announce to the general public that residents in some areas in the city, which have been experiencing sporadic water supply, have to wait for three months before the situation normalizes.

Speaking to Capital FM, Blantyre Water Board (BWB) Public Relations Officer, Priscilla Mateyu, attributed the problem to rehabilitation programme which is underway.

“The problem is due to the low pumping capacity, in the wake of the continued programme of rehabilitating the piping system,” she said.

People residing in Namiyango, Naocha, Chilobwe, Naperi and other areas have recently complained about the continued water shortage in their locations.

Most of the residents are reported to have been waking up as early as 2am to fetch water from other far away locations.
