Former British Prime Minister, Golden Brown, United Nation special Envoy on Globe Education has vowed to use his powers to woo resources to support the Education sector in the country.

Brown disclosed this during the audience with Malawi President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika held in New York on Tuesday.

“We have set ourselves a lot of targets for next year and we should be able to find the resources to realize these targets,” said Brown.

Brown led a high powered delegation of other experts in the education sector from USAID, Save the Children, JICA, World Bank and UNICEF.

On his part, President Mutharika said he was expressed with the gesture shown by Brown toward improving the level of education in Malawi especially that of the girl Child.

“The Community Colleges Initiative dominated our discussion and it is pleasing to note that the group endorsed the idea and committed their support. JICA particularly is interested in science and technology education.

“Worth noting also is the commitment by UNICEF and Save the Children to girl education and primary education as we strive to achieve universal primary education in line with Millennium Development Goals goal number 8”, said Mutharika.
