President Professor Peter Mutharika says government is doing everything possible to win back donor confidence following the massive looting of government resources commonly known as cash-gate.

President Peter Mutharika yesterday held a press briefing at Sanjika Palace in Blantyre about his trip to the United States of America where he attended the 69th General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).

Mutharika explained that government is doing everything possible to win back donor confidence following the massive looting of government resources commonly known as cash-gate.

President Mutharika said among other measures government has strengthened the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Professor Mutharika said names of those involved will be released.

During the press conference, President Mutharika also denied reports that he was staying in an expensive room during his stay in New York.

Commenting on the federal system of government which some quarters in the country are advocating for, the President said people are free to express their views on the matter.

In his speech, the President said his plans of introducing community colleges in the country have won praises internationally and many organizations are willing to assist to make the project a success.

Professor Mutharika said while in the United States he met delegations including Goldon Brown, former Prime minister of Britain. He said he discussed with them issues related to socio-economic development of Malawi.
