Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, has been sacked by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)

Keshi was sacked by the (NFF) executive committee, which met at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, on Wednesday night, after Nigeria’s 3-1 victory over Sudan.

His assistants, Daniel Amokachi and Ike Shorunmu, will give way as well.

In their place, ex- Eagles coach Shuaibu Amodu will lead a consortium of coaches including Salisu Yusuf, Gbenga Ogunbote and Aloysius Agu, for the remaining two qualifying matches for the 2015 African Cup of Nations. A foreign coach will be appointed afterwards.

Despite Nigeria’s victory on Wednesday, South Africa and Congo Brazzaville are first and second, respectively, and are the favourites to qualify for the Nations Cup.

NFF said Keshi, Amokachi and Shorounmu will be sponsored to any coaching course of their choice in any country, as a way of recognising their contributions to the game in Nigeria.

NFF also appointed ex-international Garuba Lawal as new coordinator of the Super Eagles.
