Big Bullets FC on Saturday thrashed the struggling Chikwawa United 4-1 to go top of the TNM Super League displacing Moyale barracks who went down to Civo Service United 2-0.

The game was played at the soccer-maker Kamuzu Stadium.

The people’s team started the game on high not pressing Chikwawa United from left and light. No wonder this effort yielded fruits just three minutes into the first half as the team got a goal through Jimmy Zakazaka.

Bullets who were hungry for a win proved to be the better side from difence, midfield and upfront.

Elijah Kananji and his technical team opted for Sankhani Mkandawire, Pilirani Zonda and Ian Chinyama in defence, Fischer Kondowe, Henry Kabichi, James Chilapondwa, Dalitso Sailesi and Victor Limbani were on the midfield. While Jimmy Zakazaka and Tizgowere Kumwenda started upfront.

Chikwawa United players who were searching for an equaliser tried to contain Bullets pressure by capitalising on counter-attack but this did not yield any results.

In the 23rd minutes of the first half Bullets increased the lead through own goal by Prince Kabudula.

Chikwawa United surprised the people’s team in the second half as they scored a brilliant goal in the 54 minute through John Banda straight from a free kick outside the 18-yard box.

Although this was the case, Bullets managed to contain the pressure and added another goal through Zakazaka before Mussa Manyenje who replaced Kumwenda nailed the last goal.

Speaking in an interview after the game, Bullets Coach Elijah Kananji thanked his boys for a grant fight.

On his part, Chikwawa coach Willie Khonje said an early goal and own goal the team conceded affected the morale of the players.

This means Bullets FC in now on top of the TNM Super League with 47 points from 22 games.
