Reports reaching FaceofMalawi from Mangochi indicates that some men who have changed to the second type of Antiretroviral (ARVs) from the first type of ARVs have developed breasts.

Christopher Kandionamaso, coordinator for Dignitas International confirmed of the news in an interview with the State controlled media house [MBC 1], saying some of the patients have been operated on at Mangochi district hospital.

District Health Officer (DHO) for Mangochi Dr William Peno, was non committal as to whether the breasts were protruding due to ARVS.

He has since appealed to those on ARVs to continue taking them up until advised otherwise by doctors.

National Aids Commission (NAC) board chairperson said they will engage experts to check and analyze the situation.
