Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Technology Vincent Gambi has disclosed that all science subjects will be made compulsory for secondary school students beginning next academic year.

Gamba said this on Wednesday when he was opening a three day national Science and Technology fair at Chichiri International Conference Centre in Malawi’s commercial city of Blantyre.

“We are confident that the idea would be introduced and easily embraced by stakeholders in the education sector,” he said.

He said that the ministry has been working around the clock to iron out challenges which marred the secondary school science curriculum and it will be rolled out in the 2015/16 academic year.

He therefore challenged students to shift mindset on science subjects and put effort in all sciences for the country to make progress.

This year’s national Science and Technology fair is held under theme ‘Science and Technology, Turning Ideas into wealth’.
