His Excellency State President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika, wishes to announce to the general public that the, President of the Republic of Ireland, His Excellency Michael Higgins will pay an official visit to Malawi from 10th to 12th November, 2014.

Since the setting up and opening of the Irish Embassy in Lilongwe in 2007, the Irish Government has worked with a variety of partner organisations to help Malawi in its fight against hunger and food insecurity.

In addition to the support provided through the bilateral aid programme, Irish government supports the work of local and international aid agencies and missionary organisations in Malawi. This has built on the already strong historic links between Ireland and Malawi.

During his stay in the country, we will among others discuss how we can improve trade relations between our two countries and how the Irish government can support research and learning partnerships in higher education institutions in Ireland and Malawi through the Programme for Strategic Co-operation.
