Malawi government has disclosed that it has set aside $ 538461.6 about K280 million for optimal preparedness efforts against the ravaging Ebola Virus Disease (EVD).

Trainings for healthcare workers regarding how they can deal with the disease have finally commenced.

It was noted by different stakeholders including the National Organisation of Nurses and Midwives (NONM) who observed that government was not doing enough to equip healthcare workers in the country on how to tackle any likely Ebola eventuality.

FaceofMalawi speaking to Minister of Health Jean Kalilani in an interview on Monday confirmed of the development saying that Training of Trainers (TOTs) have already been conducted at national level.

“The districts are using the same money [that was allocated for the whole country] for their own trainings. Procurement of infection prevention supplies and materials already commenced,” said Kalilani.

The minister further added that more money been used to buy airtime on radios and space in newspapers where detailed Ebola messages are expected distributed.
