As one way of appreciating the quality of education being offered in American schools, Madam Getrude Mutharika toured some of the schools in United States of America.
Madam Mutharika was accompanied by of Namibia’s First Lady and US President Grandmother Sarah Obama.
During the tour, the first had a chance to interact with the school girls.
The Principal of the school Louis Bevan said he was humbled to have such calibre of visitors at the school.
Bevan said he was looking forward to strengthen the relationship with the First Lady which would benefit schools in both countries.
“We thought it would be a wonderful experience for our children to meet people of Excellency from other countries to come here and to speak to them. We would like to do this more often,” Bevan said.
“We hope they would come back and we have been speaking to them about keeping the relationship so that children from both countries can learn from each other.”
He said the children from New York were priviledged than their contemporaries from other countries such as Malawi.
Madam Mutharika left the country over the Weekend for US to attended the Women’s Enterpreneurship Day at the UN Headquarters in New York which falls on November 19.
