A-24-year old man is reported dead in Mzimba after being hit by an over speeding vehicle in what is described as a hit- and-run accident that occurred around Chikangawa Police junction in Mzimba District.
Northern Region Police spokesperson Maurice Chapola confirmed of the development in an interview with the press and identified the deceased as Simeon Kalua.
Chapola said victim was hit by an unidentified vehicle on Friday night at Chikangawa Police junction killing him on the spot.
The driver did not stop the vehicle to check on the pedestrian who sustained severe head injuries.
Kalua hails from Simuwamba Kalua Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Mwamlowe in Rumphi District.
Meanwhile Police have launched for a manhunt for the unknown motorist.
