Unidentified thieves broke into Rumphi Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) church on Friday night and stole assorted items worth K500 000.

According to the church’s moderator the Reverend Joseph Chimembe, the items included a keyboard, amplifier, adaptor (for the church) and a bicycle belonging to a minister from a neighbouring church

He said: “The thieves used metal rods to break the door and windows through which they entered the church.

In an interview, church clerk Osward Ngwenya said it appears this gang of thieves target churches.

He said: “The theft at Rumphi CCAP comes barely three days after thieves broke into an Assemblies of God church and stole various items.” mana
