Two candidates who were sitting for this year’s Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) are in Police custody for alleged cheating malpractice.

Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) Public Relations Officer Simeon Maganga confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying one is from Zomba and the other one is from Blantyre.

“The only examination malpractices we recorded involved one candidate who was found in possession of a cellphone in an examination room in Blantyre and another candidate who was found with an unauthorised reference material in Zomba. Both were arrested as they contravened Maneb Act but are now on bail and yet to be prosecuted,” said Maganga.

Commenting on the administration of this year’s examination, Maganga described the whole process as successful.

He hailed the security officers in the country for the Job well done.

So far all major papers have been administered and the whole process is expected to come to an end on July 10.
