President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has reshuffled his cabinet, firing Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Tracizio Gowelo and Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Paul Chibingu for no reasons.

The reshuffle has also seen Minister of Information, Tourism and Culture Kondwani Nankhumwa being replaced by Jappie Mhango, former deputy Minister of defence.

According to the Statement from the Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) signed by Chief Secretary to the Government George Mkondiwa, the reshuffle is with effect from August 17, 2015.

Mutharika has roped in two new faces in the Cabinet, bringing in Honourable Dr. Peter Kampalume, M.P as Minister of Health replacing Dr. Jean Kalilani who has been moved to Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security and Honourable Malison Ndau, M.P. as Deputy Minister of Defence replacing Mhango now Minister of Information.

Meanwhile law expert have described the Cabinet reshuffle as a way of reducing the damage in terms governing the country as many people have started losing trust in the Mutharika administration.
