Six people are reported dead while eight others are battling for their lives at Chikwawa District Hospital in the southern region after a front tyre of a minibus they were travelling burst forcing it to overturn.

The incident happened on Sunday at Jombo village under chief Ngabu.

Chikwawa Officer In-Charge, Assistant Commissioner, Macmillan Nyirongo confirmed the accident in an interview with the Press.

Nyirongo said: “out of the dead four are women, one child and a man.”

Meanwhile the Malawi Police Service has appealed to all drivers in the country to avoid over speeding when driving to Chikwawa and other areas.
