Zimbabwe’s first lady has publicly endorsed the leadership of her husband, President Robert Mugabe once again as he bids to retain control of the country.

Grace told a crowd who had gathered to see herself and Mugabe that her husband’s presidency was God given.

“Just ask yourself why God continues giving a 91-year-old strength to lead the country. Where have you ever seen a 91-year-old who can stand for two hours?” she said.

According to this is Africa.com, Grace was speaking at an event in Binga, Matabeleland north province. Mugabe has the backing of his political party, Zanu-PF which he has lead since Zimbabwe’s independence in 1980.

Grace further warned ambitious political candidates to be careful, following axing of former vice president Joice Mujuru.

“This is what destroyed Mujuru. Do not be caught off-side,” Grace said.
