Death toll in the fire incident that happened on Thursday in the capital Lilongwe where members of a Pentecostal Church were trapped by a raging fire on top of Bunda Mountain has risen to four.

The development follows the recent death of a pregnant woman who was admitted at Kamuzu Central Hospital, officials have confirmed.

According to information at hand, the church members (Joana Malange Apostolic Church) went to the Hill for prayers and mate their fate there.
It is said that the fire was started by Chiefs.

Speaking in an interview with the Press Chief Mponda of Traditional Authority (T/A) Chaza in the area said Chiefs burn the Hill in August every year as sacrifice to their gods.

Yesterday’s reports indicated that a woman and two children were burnt to death in the Hill.

Meanwhile two Pregnant Women are in critical condition at Kamuzu Central Hospitals.
