Opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has accused the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) under President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika of lacking direction on how to move Malawians out of problems rocking the nation.
Chakwera said this on Thursday during the campaign rally held in Chibanja ward in Mzuzu ahead of the Tursday’s local government by-election.
In his speech, Chakwera said instead of the DPP administration dealing with the economic woes locking the nation the leadership is busy enriching itself through corrupt means.
“The biggest challenge for an individual is not blindness, but to have eyes without a vision. Malawi is stunted today because our leaders lack a vision.
“Hospitals have no drugs. Admarc markets have no maize. Quality of education is going down. All this is because our leaders have no vision. They have stolen up money meant for such developments,” Chakwera was quoted as saying.
He added: “We need a leader with a vision to end theft and corruption. But this is not being done because the leaders we have are thieves and corrupt. But we know that the truth will come out some day and it will set us free.”
Meanwhile DPP has trashed the claims by Chakwera, saying he should produce evidence to support his claims.
