Two people are in Police custody in Karonga for allegedly abducting and cutting a throat of an albino boy in the Northern district of Karonga.

Karonga Police Spokesperson Enock Livason confirmed of the development in an interview and identified the suspects as Fiskani Mtambo, 35, and and Sam Wamisi Kaumba, 32.

According to Livason, on the fateful day the suspects trickled boy telling him to accompany them to a nearby market to collect a chicken which his mother had bought.

Livason said after getting at Ipyana, the two dragged him to a nearby forest and started cutting his throat and arm.

“Lucky enough, the boy cried for help and well-wishers came to his rescue, but the two suspects managed to escape and we only arrested them after investigations the same day at night,” he said.

The boy is currently admitted at Karonga District hospital.

Livason said the suspects will appear in court soon to answer the charge of kidnapping or abducting in order to murder, contrary to section 261 of the Penal Code.

Mtambo hails from from Mukwavi Village, Traditional Authority (T/A) Mwenewenya in Chitipa while Kaumba hails from Cheyama Village, T/A Kyungu in Karonga.
