Former President Dr. Joyce Banda, founder of the Opposition People’s Party (PP) has reinstated Reverend Christopher Mzomera Ngwira and his Deputy Cliffer Kondowe as the Party’s Provincial Chairpersons for the North.
The Party through its Secretary General Ibrahim Matola fired the two following a pandemonium that erupted on Friday during its preparatory meeting held in Mzuzu in redness for the return of Banda next month.
The Party accused the Ngwira and Kondowe of hiring thugs to disrupt the meeting organized by acting Director of Administration Ken Msonda.
According to information at hand, the firing angered Banda and she ordered the immediate reinstation of the two, saying they should just be suspended pending a hearing on the matter.
“Dear Hon Christopher Mzomera Ngwira, Please refer to the letter you received on your expulsion. The party President HE Dr. Joyce Banda has directed that inspite of the seriousness of the misconduct; you are suspended and not expelled in order to be given an opportunity to be heard,” reads the letter in part signed by Matola.
The Party has since ordered the two to appear before a disciplinary subcommittee on Friday 11th September, 2015; 10am at Maranatha Lodge, Area 47 near Bwandilo, in Lilongwe.
Ngwira made headlines last month when he appointed former Vice President Khumbo Kachali as Acting President replacing Banda who is currently in self-imposed exile in South Africa.
