President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has approved the abolishment of the Junior Certificate of Education (JCE) Examinations.

This is has been disclosed in a statement made available to FaceofMalawi, saying this is part of the Public Service Sector Reforms the government is undertaking in 16 Statutory Corporation.

According to information at Hand, Mutharika has also order the Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) in Collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to stop the printing of Primary School Certificate of Education (PSLCE) Examinations.

According to the statement, this has been done to reduce cost anchored by government in the printing and administering of the Exams across the country.

Meanwhile Education rights activist have expressed worry of the development, saying this will further decline the quality of Education in the country.
