The government of Malawi has said it will not renew the contract of Tobacco Control Commission (TCC) Chief Executive Officer Bruce Muthali, saying it’s time for him to go.

Minister of Information, Tourism and Civic Education Jappie Mhango confirmed of the development in an interview with the press, saying Mutharika’s contract expired in August.

“Munthali was on month-to-month as his contract expired some time back after serving the commission for two terms,” he said.

When press on who will be replacing Muthali, Mhango denied to give details on the matter.

Meanwhile media reports indicate that Muthali has been replaced by Albert Changaya, who is director of Tea Research Foundation of Central Africa (TRFCA).
