Information sourced by FaceofMalawi indicates that former President Dr. Joyce Banda will be in Accra, Ghana on Thursday where she will be attending global gathering of women leaders.
The trip to Ghana comes barely days after Banda was awarded the 2015 ‘Women of Distinction Global Leadership Award in Politics’ by Celebrating Women International (CWI) in Bahamas.
According to information published by Ghana’s online media www.myjoyonline.com, Banda will be the guest of honour at the event.
Among other things, Banda will also help launch “Elect Her In Africa” [Ehia], an organisation aimed at encouraging women to run for elected offices in Africa and encourage governments to appoint women to various positions.
Former first lady of Ghana, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings; Senator Geraldine Doe-Sheriff of Liberia, Senator Binta Masi Garba of Nigeria and Madam Mary Broh, Mayor of Monrovia in Liberia are also expected to speak.
The aim of the forum is to connect some of the most influential women leaders on the African continent.
