Information reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that late Tasokwa Msiska’s Children have been arrested for allegedly mobilizing mourners to chase Minister of Information, Tourism and Civic Education Jappie Mhango at their fathers’ funeral in Rumphi last week.

The family and mourners accused the Minister blocking funds to support late Msiska to access better health services when he was ill.

Rumphi Police confirmed of the development in an interview with one of the privately owned radio [Zodiak Broadcasting Station] on Monday but denied to give more details on the arrest.

The development sparked commotion in Parliament on Monday after when opposition MPs asked the Mhango to explains why the Children have been arrested.

The whole issue was started by opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) MP for Dowa East Richard Chimwendo Banda who asked the Minister to feed the house with information on the arrest.

But the Speaker of Parliament Richard Msowoya intervened on the matter and ruled Banda out of order for not following the Parliament Standing Order in bringing the issue to the House.

The development caused commotion as opposition MPs stood in solidarity with Banda and demanded that Mhango should give an explanation to the house leading to an adjournment of the house.

Mhango succeeded Msiska as the legislator of Rumphi North and it is alleged that there was bad blood between the two with some unconfirmed reports alleging that Mhango may have a hand in Msiska’s death.
