A 25-year-old woman is in Police custody in Dedza for allegedly being found in possession of fake maize seeds.
Dedza Police Deputy Publicist Constable Cassim Manda confirmed of the arrest in an interview with the press and identified the suspect as Lucy Simengwa Mwitha who works with Kulima Gold shop as Manageress.
According to Manda, the police received a tip from well-wishers that Mwitha was selling fake maize seed in her shop.
He said police invaded the shop and found the fake maize seed packed in bags labeled Felm enterprise hence the arrest.
Last month police in the same district arrested a woman identified as Catherine Nthala Kachipande for also being found with fake maize seed packed in bags of Mosanto brand.
Mwitha hails from Chisankhwa village in the area of traditional authority Maulambia in Chitipa district.
