People endure being in a dangerous relationship because of love or in the hope that their partner would change. But do they ever change? And is it really worth it to be in such a relationship?

Some people are scared of leaving such relationships and many don’t even know that they are in a highly dangerous relationship.

It’s easy to know that you are in a dangerous relationship and below are signs of a dangerous relationship:

1. YOU ARE AFRAID OF YOUR PARTNER

You are supposed to have respect for your partner and not fear; when what you have for your partner is fear then something is terribly wrong with your relationship. If your partner makes you afraid then you are in a dangerous relationship.

2. YOUR PARTNER IS EXTREMELY UNFAITHFUL

This is another sign of a dangerous relationship that many people aren’t aware of. Being with a partner that’s extremely unfaithful is dangerous to your health, especially if you have unprotected sex with that person. You put yourself at risk of having STDs and STIs when with such a partner.

3. SELF-CENTREDNESS

When you are in a relationship with a partner who doesn’t think about you but always puts himself / herself ahead of you then that’s a dangerous relationship. When one partner always expects you to satisfy their physical and emotional needs and never puts in any effort to do same then that’s a problem — such a relationship is never good for anyone.

4. UNGRATEFULNESS

When you are in a relationship with a partner that’s never appreciative of what you do, no matter what you do then you are in a dangerous relationship. Being in an ungrateful relationship is dangerous because you spend most of your time and energy sacrificing for someone who isn’t really worth it. If you aren’t careful, you might lose yourself in the process — all in a bid to please an ungrateful partner.

5. HARSH CRITICISMS

When in a relationship where you are always criticised for what you do and what you don’t do, you put yourself at risk of losing yourself. Such a relationship is never good enough for anyone. You would feel terrible when you are always criticised and never appreciated.

6. ABUSE

An abusive relationship is never good for anyone. If you are in a relationship where you are either abused physically or verbally, then such a relationship is dangerous for you. Physical abuse can hurt you and even put you in life threatening situations and verbal abuse can hurt your mind.

7. MANIPULATION

As the name implies, in a manipulative relationship, you would be forced to do that which you are unwilling to do. Your partner would even make you feel guilty if you try to do that which you feel is right. Many people are manipulated into having illicit sex just to prove love and some are manipulated into crimes and other dangerous things. Being in a manipulative relationship is highly dangerous and you put yourself at risk.

8. IRRESPONSIBLE

Being in a relationship with an irresponsible partner can really be tiring. When you have to always cover for your partner’s mistake like you are in a relationship with a baby then that’s a dangerous relationship. Your partner could be irresponsible in certain ways: financially, alcohol and drugs use, nonchalance etc. And it’s terrible and dangerous when your partner just won’t change.

9. CONTROL

I don’t think any human should be under control no matter the circumstances. When you are with a partner who wouldn’t let you breath but rather control every moment of your life then that’s a dangerous situation to be in. Control is a terrible relationship practice that could make you lose sight of who you truly are.

10. DISTRUST

When in a relationship that lacks trust then it means you and your partner are just out for a walk. A relationship should breed trust and it’s a problem when trust is lacking. When trust isn’t present in the relationship, it only shows that something is actually wrong with the relationship. Distrust only exists when partners are dishonest.

These ten kinds of relationships are dangerous and not good for anyone.
