Information reaching FaceofMalawi indicates that a Police officer has been arrested in Blantyre for allegedly supply gun-ammo to four robbery suspects arrested on the weekend.

According to information at hand, the officer is from Kanjeza Police, one of the police training colleges in the country.

Southern Region Police spokesperson James Kadadzera denied commenting on the matter when approached.

On Saturday, police in Blantyre arrested four suspected robberies and in the process recovered a total of 239 live ammunition, a pistol and a pump gun.

The four suspects were identified as 23-year-old Dumisani Mvula, 38-year-old Chipiliro Gombwa, 35-year-old Dickson Magumbe and 29-year-old Andy Machinjiri.

The suspects are also alleged to have committed three murder cases in the process of stealing seven vehicles.

Some of the vehicles that the group is suspected to have stolen include a Mazda Bongo, whose owner was murdered, an MTL Toyota Hilux whose driver was killed, and a government Toyota Prado belonging to a Cabinet minister.
