Opposition People’s Party (PP) Publicity Secretary Ken Msonda has asked the country’s Vice President Dr. Saulos Chilima to retract and apologize to Malawians for calling them idiots, saying the statement is offensive and misplaced.

Chilima is said to have referred to Malawians who comment on various challenges rocking the country such as the economy, legal matters and social issues as idiots, saying there comments confuse Malawians as they lack knowledge on the issues they are commenting on.

He said this during the annual conference of the Malawi Law Society (MLS) held in Mongochi on Saturday.

But reacting to the statement through a facebook post, Msonda asked the Vice President to immediately retract the statement, saying the statement is offensive.

“MEEKNESS & HUMBLENESS is not ‘STUPIDITY or IDIOTITY’ but rather STREINGH under CONTROL.

“if indeed it is true that our Vice President said those words, he should retract the statement and apologize to Malawians because we MALAWIANS ARE NOT IDIOTS!,” said Msonda.

He added: “I dont believe that the VP is telling the world that he is governing a country of ‘idiots’?
i tend to differ, we Malawians are NOT ‘ IDIOTS’.

Msonda said he find the statement by Chilima calling Malawians idiots’ not only only offensive, misplaced & undemocratic line of thinking but above all, uncalled for.
