As Malawians continue to spend a sleepless night searching for food in ADMARC deports across the country, human right activists Billy Mayaya has called off the food crisis demonstrations barely hours to the actual day.

Mayaya together with some concerned citizens were scheduled to hold demonstrations in the capital Lilongwe on Thursday March 10, 2016 to press government to solve the hunger crisis in the country which has claimed close to five lives.

Confirming the development, Mayaya said the Police have pressured him to call off the demonstrations.

Mayaya also trashed the information hovering on the social media that he has called off the demonstrations due to the availability of Maize in most ADMARC deports.

“I have moved up and down from Nsanje to Chitipa, the situation remains the same, long queus at ADMARC depots, women still spend day and nights at ADMARC depots,” Mayaya said.

Although this is the case, opposition Political Parties says they still maintain their earlier ultimatum to the President that he should solve the challenges in the country in 30 days falling which the Presidential should voluntarily resign.
