In what can be described as a resurface of housing allowances scam involving First and Second Deputy Speaker, information sourced by FaceofMalawi indicates that Rumphi East MP Kamlepo Kalua want the two suspended.

According to an article carried by Nation on Sunday dated March 13, 2016, says Kalua is this expected week expected to move a motion in Parliament for the suspension of Esther Mcheka Chilenje Nkhoma and Clement Chiwaya.

“First and Second Deputy Speaker have been involved in swindling our August House of its hard allocated money through dubious rental claims since their elections into the high office.

“Their scandal has brought the Office of the Speaker into disrespect and it is a regressive step to the fight against corruption in the light of Cashgate under the previous People’s Party (PP) reign,” reads motion quoted by Nation on Sunday.

Mcheka Chilenje and Chiwaya are said to have been drawing allowances on the pretense that they were residing in a rented house while they were staying in their own houses.

The two were receiving money amounting to MK550, 000 each per month as condition of Service for someone who is residing in rented house.

The scandal received heavy criticisms from all corners in the country with others advocating for the immediate resignation of the two.

Meanwhile the two are being investigated by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
