There was drama at Kasungu ground on Monday when the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) turned Albinism Awareness Day to a political battle field by attacking other political parties in the country.

It all started with minister of Gender Jean Kalirani who attacked opposition Political parties in the country especially Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and People’s Party (PP) of criticizing everything that President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika does.

“It is sad that the opposition call everything that our President says as empty,” said Kalirani.

She went further to ask people living with albinism in the country to raise their hands and shout a DPP slogan.

As this was not enough, DPP women chanted songs of praising the President throughout the ceremony diverting from the main purpose of the ceremony.

On his part, President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika urged Malawians to desist from abducting, killing and exhuming tombstones of people living with albinism, saying they are like everyone.

He said his government will make sure that perpetrators of such malpractices are brought to book.

Mutharika also attacked the media in the country for criticizing his plan to send officials to the east African countries to learn on how to deal with albino killings as waste of money, saying that is not true.
