Land of Poets Festival is slowly marching over to the hub of entertainment with the live ammunitions of metaphors, imagery, laughter, dancing antics as it is ready to invade the Blantyre Cultural Centre (BCC) on 3 July this year.

Confirming the development, Poetry Association of Malawi (PAM) publicist Sylvester Kalizang`oma says this year’s festival is a special dedication to all people who take part in poetry.

“All is set for the Land of Poets Festival which will take place at the Blantyre Cultural Centre on 3 July.

Tedious moments are now history because poetry fans will get into the chariots of fully packed entertainment.

They will appreciate what the mother of all poetry events is doing as we know that people outside Malawi recognize our nation as the land of poets,” says Kalizang`oma.

He adds: “This year’s event will be focused under the theme Poetry: Expanding Wisdom, Deepening Knowledge.

And the legendary Benedicto Wokomaatani Malunga will be honoured with the Long-time Achievement Award for his contributions in the literary world. The veteran poet ever translated the famous novel Things Fall Apart by the late Chinua Achebe into the Chipasupasu book. He has also published the masterpiece Ndidzakutengera Kunyanja Ligineti just to mention but a few.”

Artists anticipated to perform are Yankho Seunda, Babangoni Chisale, Hudson Chamasowa, Sylvester Kalizang`oma, Luckier Chikopa, Given Chichitike, Mada Nyambo, Samuel Joseph, Raphael Sitima, Nyamalikiti Nthiwatiwa, Joseph Madzedze.

Presidential mimickers Atcheya Frank Naligonje, Mr Malawi Snowden Tembo, Aunt Geti, film soundtrack award winner and acoustic singer Lloyd Phaundi Agorosso, and Chichiri prison cultural troupe will also spice up the show.
