Madonna’s tour of pediatric surgery and Malawi’s first ever intensive care unit which is under construction at the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre on Sunday was characterized by drama as journalists were blocked from taking photos.
Madonna arrived in the country the same day together with her two children adopted from Malawi, 10-year-olds David and Mercy, and her son Rocco, 15.
The pop star convoy comprises of five vehicles with a tight security.
Drama ensued when the pop star arrived at the construction site as Journalists who were there to take photos of Madonna while inspecting the project were barred.
Madonna’s security officers also chased away a guard at the site brought a book for Madonna to sign as per tradition.
Journalists were also barred from accompanying Madonna while she was inspecting the roams of the pediatric surgery.
While in the country Madonna will meet President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and Minister of Health Peter Kumpalume.
