A Mchinji man is battling for his life at Kamuzu Central Hospital in the capital Lilongwe after an angry mob descended him for allegedly killing his wife.
The suspect identified as Alufeyo Kapukwa is alleged to have murdered his wife on Tuesday by slitting her on the throat.
It is said that the suspect and his wife Agness Nsato picked a quarrel on Tuesday and retaliation the husband killed her in cold blood.
After community members learned about the incident, they descended on Kapukwa administer what is called mob-justice.
Mchinji Police Officer In-charge Maximos Bakali confirmed of the development.
He said the suspect was rescued from the angry mob by the police after sustaining serious injuries.
Once released from hospital, the suspect will answer murder charges contrary to section 209 of the penal code.
