President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika is today scheduled to appear in public for the first time since he returned from United Nation General Assembly (UNGA) meeting in New York.

Since Mutharika arrived in the country on Sunday, people especially those on social media have been spreading rumours that he is not feeling well and others even went further by saying that he has been flown back to USA for medical treatment.

But his first public appearance today will clear all the mist surrounding his health status.

Speaking in an interview with the press, Presidential Press Officer Mgeme Kalilani said Mutharika is ready for the briefing.

When asked for the safety of the reporters assigned to cover the press briefing, Kalilani said no one will be intimidated.

The press conference will start at Two O’clock in the afternoon.

Among other things, Professor Mutharika will brief the media on Malawi government’s engagements at the 71st Session of the United Nations General Assembly and other related issues of national importance.
