Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has accused the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) of sponsoring some top officials in the party to rise against his leadership.

Chakwera said this on Saturday during a political rally at Kaliyeka School Ground ahead of 1 November by-elections polls.

In his speech, Chakwera said he has the information that some disgruntled MCP officials who were expelled from the Party are receiving financial assistant from the ruling DPP to bring disorder.

“I know how much money are you getting, I know where you are meeting, one day I will not hastate but to reveal all the clandestine deals of double standards that you are doing,” said Chakwera.

MCP squabbles emerged when Chakwera made some changes in the National Executive Committee (NEC) leadership which saw some top officials being demoted.

The development did not please some officials who retaliated by taking the leadership to caught to reverse the decision or call for convention.
