The newly appointed Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) Chairperson Dr. Jane Ansah SC has been sworn few days after her appointment.

The ceremony took place on Friday at the High Court premises in the commercial capital Blantyre and it was presided over by Chief Justice Andrew Nyirenda.

Speaking after being sworn in, Ansah assured Malawians that she will work hard and without fear or favour and that she will always uphold the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi.

She therefore called upon for support from all Malawians to ensure smooth running of affairs at (MEC).

“I promise to abide by the law and I call for your support so that we work together for the success of MEC and that of our nation” said
Ansah.

Ansah was born on 11th October 1955 became High Court Judge in 1998 before being appointed Judge of Suppreme in 2011.

Between 2006 and 2011, she served as Attorney General.
