Her Excellency Dr. Joyce Banda addressed leadership students at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles, California, United States of America on Monday, October 24, 2016.

As the first female President of Malawi, Dr. Joyce Banda’s discussion presented a unique opportunity to promote women’s leadership in Africa and globally, including the impact of leadership on policymaking and development objectives.

The event was organized by the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washington DC under its ‘The Women in Public Service Project’.

The Project’s primary objective is to create more dynamic and inclusive institutions that leverage the full potential of the world’s population to change the way global solutions are forged.

‘The Women in Public Service Project’ was established in 2011 by former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the Department of State to accelerate global progress towards women’s equal participation in policy and political leadership, and achieving gender parity by 2050.

Dr. Joyce Banda is currently a Distinguished Fellow at the Woodrow Wilson Center.
