Opposition People’s Party (PP) Interim President Uladi Mussa has accused President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika and the ruling Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) of hijacking the rally venue at Mchinji Boma a head of the by-election in November.

President Mutharika is this afternoon scheduled to hold a public rally at Mchinji Boma to spice up the campaign for his candidate for the Parliamentary by-election in Mchinji West Constituency.

The place is believed to have earlier been booked by PP officials and DC for Mchinji Richard Hara approved it.

But it what can be described as a twist of event, the venue has been awarded to the ruling DPP and PP officials have been informed to cancel the meeting.

Speaking in an interview with the press, Mussa confirmed of the development.

Mussa said the Party is surprised with the conduct of Hara to allow DPP hold a campaign rally at Mchinji Boma and at the same time cancelling PP rally scheduled for today at the same venue.

On his part, Hara said DPP was the first to book for a venue and Mussa was informed of the development.

Effort to talk to DPP officials on the matter proved futile.
