Blantyre Magistrate Court has convicted Peoples Land Organization leader Vincent Wandale on three counts of Conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor, unauthorized use of land and inciting violence.

Wandale was arrested two months ago for allegedly mobilizing people in Thyolo and Mulanje to grab land from tea estate owners, claiming that the land was acquired dubiously.

After examining the facts presented in court by both the State and the Defence, senior resident magistrate Thoko Soko convicted Wandale.

In related development, Magistrate Soko has acquitted Tendai Msikita on the same offenses.

Magistrate Soko has however set 8th November 2016 as a day when she will sentence Wandale.

Meanwhile Wandale has said he will appeal against the ruling.
