Police in Nkhotakota have arrested a man found hunting for a human placenta at Nkhotakota District Hospital.

Nkhotakota Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, Paul Malimwe confirmed of the arrest in an interview with zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBS) and identified the suspect as Madalitso Kalamula.

Malimwe told the reporter that Kalamula was caught wandering in the maternity wing corridor of the hospital on the night of January 5 and was apprehended by watchmen who took him to police.

When asked as to why he was searching for human Placenta, Kalamula said he wanted to use the placenta medicine for a disease he is suffering from as instructed by the herbalist.

Kalamula hails from Nkhunje village in the area of senior chief Mwadzama in the district.
