Democratic Progressive Party Regional Governor for the north, Frank Mwenifumbo has resigned from the former ruling party.

Secretary General Wakuda Kamanga told zodiac online that the party has since replaced Mwenifumbo with Reverend Christopher Mzumara Ngwira.

“He says he has quit on personal reasons. We have accepted his resignation and we have replaced him with Reverend Christopher Mzumara Ngwira,” said Kamanga.

Kamanga however said the resignation of Mwenefumbo does not signal the start of cracks in the former ruling party.

“The entire executive is intact save for Mr. Mwenefumbo. We are still a strong party,” he said.

Mwenefumbo was one of crucial party members in the northern region and was very close to the late President.

He is the one who called on government departments to stop buying or advertising with the Nation newspaper, arguing that it was critical of the Mutharika administration.
