A man who was contracted by a woman to kill her husband, has been sentenced to seven years in prison.
According to reports, a Kenyan man identified as Joseph ‘Karis’ Njuguna, was arrested and charged to court for the murder of one Mr Solomon Mwangi, in 2016.
Karis has been contracted by Solomon’s wife identified as Mrs. Jane Muthobi Mbuthi, to kill her husband who was the principal of Kiru Boys’ Secondary school in Kenya.
Solomon had been reported missing and his body was found several days after, in the Witeithie dam where investigations revealed he had been strangled and dumped.
According to Karis, he had agreed to do the job because Jane promised to give him $ 391.
Appearing before the presiding judge, Joel Ngugi, at the High Court, Karis pleaded guilty to the charges against him. He was also said to have shown remorse and even helped the investigation that identified Jane as the culprit.
Judge Ngugi sentenced him to 7 years in jail for failing to act in order to stop a murder, stating that he acted with ‘wanton disregard for human life.’
Jane is however facing murder charges for the death of her husband.
