A Florida woman is facing murder charges in connection to a house fire where three children were found dead and a grandfather was seriously injured.
Authorities came to the scene at around 4:30 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a home that was fully engulfed in flames.
Marian Williams, 49, was arrested in connection to the fire. Officers arrested Williams on arson, attempted murder and three counts of murder.
Police say two adults and three children were inside the house at the time of the fire. The three children, ages 4, 8 and 10, were found dead in the home.
“It was a sad morning just waking up to something like that man. I mean it’s involving kids,” said Terry Bing, who knows the family.
Bing knows the three children and the family. He says this will be felt by the entire Arcadia community of Florida.
“It’s just like family, regardless, if you come from the same mother or not. It’s family around here man,” Bing said.
The children’s grandfather escaped and was taken to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton with serious injuries. He is currently in the ICU. The other adult that was home at the time made it out and was not injured.
A family member of the three children says that the grandfather and Williams had been in a relationship and were fighting several times. He also said Williams had recently threatened to burn the house down over unpaid child support.
According to the police, Williams is being held in the DeSoto County Jail with no bond.
The real cause of the fire is still under investigation.
