At least two people, a woman and a child have been confirmed killed at Dzaleka refugee Camp in Dowa following the recent spate of serial attacks and murders that have hit the camp.

Police have since been making arrests in connection with these attacks which are said to have been attributed by the age old rivalry between the Tutsi tribe and Hutus.

It is reportedly that another attack of this kind took place last Sunday that saw a 47 year old Rwandan national Bavumiragira Deogratias strangled and tied to his bed after the attackers broke into his hut.

Luckily Deogratias survived the attack and currently he is receiving treatment at Mtengowamthenga Mission Hospital.

A younger brother to the victim, Ndayambashi Muhammad accused the police of taking long to bring the suspect to book whom he claimed was a fellow refugee.

“No one should cheat you that the attackers are coming from outside (camp). They are our fellow refugees and asylum seekers who are doing this. But what baffles us is why the police are taking ages to conclude their investigations,” Muhammad fascinated.
