A 30 year old man Maziko Banda is in police custody in Salima for being found in possession of 53 cobs of Indian Hemp without Licence.

Salima police publicist Gift Chitonde confirmed of the development in an interview with the press.

According to Chitonde, the suspect was traveling from Mangochi along the Lake shore road using a Dulux Coach Registration number NN 8768 from Dwangwa heading to Mangochi.

“On May 3, the suspect was travelling along the Lake shore road using a Dulux Coach Registration number NN 8768 from Dwangwa heading Mangochi after wrapping his both hands and legs with the said cobs as one way of hiding the stuff but was unfortunate that when he reached Kaphatenga Police Road Block(Salima).

“One of the police officer manning the Road Block was suspicious with the outlook of the suspect and when he was searched its when the said stuff was discovered and got him arrested,” reads in part Chitonde’s statement.

Maziko Banda will appear in court soon where he will answer charges of being Found in Possession of Indian Hemp without Licence.

Banda hails from Chiseka village, Traditional Authority Chiseka in Lilongwe.
