Chiefs under Paramount Chief Chikulamayembe in Rumphi have closed down CCAP church over ownership wrangle of Nkhwangu Primary School between the church and villagers

According to information at hand, the villagers handed over the school to Catholic Church but some officials handed the school to CCAP church without the knowledge of the chiefs and villagers in the area.

The development angered the villagers and chiefs who retaliated by closing down Nkhwangu CCAP church.

The Chiefs who were 9 in total said they will only open the church when the misunderstanding is solved.

Education Division Officer in the district confirmed of the development in an interview, saying his office is planning to revert the school to Local Education Authority (LEA).
