People from all walks of life on Friday continued flocking to Sanjika Palace in Blantyre to pay their last respects to late President Professor Bingu wa Mutharika.

The ceremony commenced with prayers before President Joyce Banda led the people in paying homage to the fallen head of state.

Some notable figures at the ceremony included former president Dr. Bakili Muluzi, former vice president Dr. Justine Malewezi among others.

Meanwhile, the Zambian government on Friday finally handed over the five million liters of fuel loaned to Malawi to facilitate funeral arrangements.

The handover ceremony took place at the Memorial Tower in Lilongwe.

Minister of National Resources, Energy and Environment, Mr. Goodal Gondwe, said government will decide how the fuel will be distributed.

Malawi is currently experiencing acute fuel shortage.
